Performance Wholesale Motorsport; Next Stop Speedweek
14/12/2009 9:37:23 PM - PWM Media

With Christmas now just about ten days away, Bryan Mann and the Performance Wholesale Motorsport team are busy preparing for the busiest part of their season; the annual Speedweek segment of the World Series Sprintcars Championship starting December 26 in Adelaide.

Speedweek will see the team compete in five races in seven days through South Australia and Victoria, an arduous road trip for any team, and it comes on the back of a couple of tough nights of racing at Parramatta City Raceway and Brisbane International Speedway during the past two weeks.

At Parramatta for Round 3 of Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars (PWWSS), Bryan qualified down the order and posted the twenty-seventh fastest time in a field of fifty-five drivers, leaving him with some work to do in the Heat races to make the A-Main. Bryan went on to place second and fifth in his Heats but missed a transfer spot into the night's Feature event by placing seventh in the B-Main.

Back in Brisbane for Round 5 of the Qld Speedway Spares Series this past Saturday night, Bryan looked to have things back on track by setting the third fastest time of the hot lap sessions with a decent 11.858s lap of the 1/4 mile Speedway. As a last start winner at the venue, Bryan felt confident the night ahead could be a good one for the team.

However, an incident with two other cars just after the start of his first Heat race left Bryan stranded on the infield with damage to the front of the chassis and then another DNF in his second qualifying Heat left him outside the top twelve drivers to earn a direct start in the A-Main. Bryan made sure he transferred into the Feature by winning the B-Main and then from the seventh row of the grid, he raced to a ninth place finish to cap off the night.

"We knew Parramatta was always going to be one of the hardest races to qualify for, the large number of cars down there was always going to be a factor in making it through" explained Bryan.

"In Brisbane we got caught up in a crash in the first Heat race and did some damage to the front of the car and ended up in the B-Main. Starting down the back in the Feature we moved forward a couple of spots early on but it was hard going out there to get any more than that."

"We'll re-group this week and get ready for Adelaide on Boxing Night, we're looking forward to the challenge of Speedweek and staying up in the points as much as we can."

With three Rounds of the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship completed and eleven to go, Bryan is currently placed ninth in the standings. Consistency, qualifying well and continuing to make the A-Mains will be the key to Bryan and the team improving their ranking and meeting the goals they set themselves prior to the start of the Championship.

The Performance Wholesale Motorsport team would like to also take the opportunity to wish their supporters and all fans of Sprintcar and Speedway racing in general a merry and safe Christmas. For fans making their way to the Speedweek events, be sure to drop by the pits to say hi to Bryan and the team, grab yourselves some autograph cards and have a look at the #16 Capalaba Wreckers J&J up close.
