Solid Start To World Series Campaign For Mann
23/11/2009 12:24:51 PM - PWM Media

Bryan Mann got his Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars campaign off to a solid start in Brisbane on Saturday night with an eighth place finish in the first Feature race of the 2009/10 Championship.

Driving the #16 Capalaba Wreckers/Qld Speedway Spares J&J, Mann and his Performance Wholesale Motorsport team ticked each of the boxes on their run sheets by meeting the expectations and goals they set themselves before the start of the night and finished the event placed eighth in the Championship standings.

PWM Crew Chief Drew Gessner was fairly happy with the night's results and how Bryan drove the car.

"Coming into tonight we knew that we needed a good result here as this is our home track and probably the place where we're tuned the most laps in the car. We possibly could have timed in a little bit better but we had a reasonably good run in the Heats and made the Top 8 Shootout which was one of our goals tonight." Drew explained after the race on Saturday night.

"I think we had the car pretty good for the Feature, we've learnt a lot with the car in recent weeks here and we went with what has been working for us lately. Bryan drove the car well, we had a good race going there for a while with Murky (Dave Murcott) and Blingy (David Muir) and Bryan brought it home straight and inside the top ten, he did a good job for us tonight."

"We'll move on to Toowoomba for Round 2 next week, again it's a place where we have raced quite a few times through the years so we'll be aiming for another good result there before we head off interstate for the bulk of the Series races."

Round 2 of the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship will be held at Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba this Saturday night, with Round 3 at Parramatta City Raceway in Sydney a week later on December 5.

The Series will take a short break between the Parramatta Round and Christmas, resuming in Adelaide on Boxing Day, allowing the Performance Wholesale Motorsport team an opportunity to compete in Round 5 of the Qld Speedway Spares Series in Brisbane on December 12.
