Mann's World Series Campaign Starts This Week
18/11/2009 9:52:01 AM - PWM Media

After months of meticulous planning and preparation, Bryan Mann's 2009/10 Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship campaign finally moves into top gear this week with the opening Round of the Series at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway on Saturday night signalling the start of an arduous schedule that will take him to race tracks right around the country.

The preliminary races are over and the Performance Wholesale Motorsport team's assault on the toughest gig in Australian Speedway is about to start in earnest. From here through to the end of February, the team will pull into tracks in Qld, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia to compete against the best drivers in the country and from the United States on the national trail and at other major events. Those preliminaries - eight races in Darwin, Mackay, Brisbane and Maryborough over the past few months - have yielded two victories and six top ten finishes for the team including Bryan's first Feature race win at Archerfield, the venue for Saturday's World Series opener.

Team principle and long time supporter of Australian Speedway Bill Mann is pleased with Bryan's continued progress as a driver but knows the quality of the opposition in the coming months is right up there and there are no easy roads to success.

"He's come a long way from that first day in Toowoomba" commented Bill after Bryan's recent win in the Qld Speedway Spares Series event in Brisbane and in reference to Bryan's very first drive of a Sprintcar four years ago.

"We're very happy with how he's going at the moment, he and Drew (Gessner, crew chief) are working very well together and the results are starting to show. Obviously racing in World Series events and at a lot of different tracks accelerates the learning curve for any driver and team and I'm sure it will be no different for us again this year."

"The driver roster in the Series this season is probably the toughest it has been for a couple of years which is great for Sprintcar racing in Australia, we're looking forward to the Series and being out on the road again. It's a big commitment for any team to undertake and it's a challenge we're certainly excited about taking on."

Saturday night's event in Brisbane is the first of three Rounds of the Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship before Christmas, with Round 2 to be held at Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba on November 28 and Round 3 at Parramatta City Raceway in Sydney a week later on December 5.
