Josh raced his second meeting in his new
Tony Kart 6.11.07 at Ipswich.
It was a strong field of Junior National Lights with the State
Champion competeing and other equally notable drivers. It was a
hard day, but a good day.
Nothing spectular in the results however a big day for learning
about kart set-up, patience and frustration management.
Josh has really evolved into a competitive
driver and was not at all happy that he couldnt get to the front of
the field. In every race he finished within 10 seconds of the
winner and thats saying something.
Next meeting is Warwick December 8th and that
concludes the racing calendar for this year. Hoping to be on the
track lots more next year and will post a calendar when known.
Thanks very much to Bill and Wendy for their
continued support of this little race team.
We're Back Karting
21/09/07
We
were forced to take a break and wait for Josh to be able to race in an older
class. He is a tall medium build boy and became uncompetitive due to the
combined weight of his older style Kart, gear and self.
During the break the boys investigated the different types of Karts
available and settled on a Tony Kart. They then ordered it, built it and got
back on the track to practice.
Last weekend we raced for the first time in a new class called Junior
National Evolution Light. You must be 12 years old to compete and the Kart
is now adult size. We chose Toowoomba, hoping for a quieter field of
competitors. The day was quieter however his field was normal size.
The new kart is fantastic and competitive. We did not put new tyres on for
the day as we didnt expect to be competitive, but merely wanted to get our
feet wet in this new class. He was however very quick in practice and as
usual we all got excited at the possibility that he might go really well.
(stupid mistake we still dont seem to have learnt not to make)
His driving style has changed along with his attitude. He is now competing
for the lead and challenging all who get in his way. That is great for us to
see. He loves the new kart and finished the day in 4th position. Much better
than expected for his first meeting in almost a year. It was a good feeling
to be back at the track.
We are really lucky to be able to compete with a new kart and gear in a
beaut new trailer and would like to thank Bill Mann very much for this
opportunity. Without his sponsorship and caring, we would not be in this
position. Thanks heaps Bill
Next race is a two day meeting in Ipswich on 29th and 30th Spetember. We
will let you know how that goes. |
